My Story
Hello! I am Rebekah Carmichael-Austin, founder of Uncovering Words, LLC. I started this journey because of one simple but life changing moment and due to that moment, I want to make Spelling to Communicate accessible to everyone. On December 5, 2022, I sat beside my stepson, full of anticipation for his first lesson. When the lesson began, and our highly trained practitioner began working with us I was overcome with fierce emotion as I watched him spell out answers to age-appropriate lesson questions. It was in this moment that I knew I had to provide this same opportunity and experience to as many families as possible.
With my bachelor's in health sciences, MS in Counseling Studies and my years of working with neurodivergent individuals, I provide high level services to my clients and their families.
Competence is Key
I am passionate about teaching, and I am dedicated to helping spellers achieve their goals and reach their full potential. This is possible through having competence in your speller and providing engaging, age-appropriate, cognitive lessons that feed their brain with exhilarating information and provide regulation for spelling.
Fun Activities
We all learn differently and providing fun activities as we educate our spellers gives them full potential to learn and grow. With the use of VAKT, (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Tactile), I work with spellers on their purposeful motor movements and learning. Keeping mind and body engaged which results in regulation and an environment safe for learning. Communication and education should not be limited. Besides who doesn't love to get away and explore!
